Compensation for a former draftsman from Kendal

A client in Cumbria worked around workmates at a company called Caston Barber Limited, who were fitting asbestos sheets in a workshop using mechanical saws. The company made fireproof doors for ships, including the SS Oriana for Vickers Armstrong in Barrow-in-Furness.
Kevin and his team uncovered the facts of the client's case and were able to trace the company’s insurers from 1960-1962. The insurers admitted liability when faced with evidence prepared Kevin. The client passed away with the peace of mind of knowing that his case had been successfully settled.
Before his death the client said:
“Thanks to Kevin, my claim and its expeditious settlement can be summed up by the Latin: ‘Nulli Secundus’ [second to none]. I would have no hesitation in referring prospective claimants to Leigh Day and Kevin in particular.”
The client settled his case safe in the knowledge that he could go back to Court and apply for more compensation should he have had to pay for any private medical treatment, such as immunotherapy, as new treatments emerge for treating asbestos diseases not currently funded by the NHS.
