Niamh is an associate solicitor in the international and group claims department

Competition law Group claims

Niamh is an associate solicitor in the international & group litigation department. She works primarily on complex group claims related to environmental issues, including competition law collective actions.

Niamh’s work at Leigh Day includes:

• Launching the first ‘environmental’ collective action claims against six water companies for allegedly abusing their dominant market position by underreporting the number of pollution incidents they cause, resulting in customers being overcharged.

• Acting on the ‘Diesel gate’ emissions group claim on behalf of vehicle owners.

Niamh has a particular interest in regulation, climate change and pollution. She is a member of the UK Environmental Law Association and the Competition Law Association.

Legal expertise

Prior to joining Leigh Day in April 2023, Niamh worked as a competition lawyer at Slaughter and May. She worked on a broad range of competition cases, including high-value, multi-jurisdictional merger control procedures and high-profile antitrust investigations. Niamh also has experience advising on subsidy control and public procurement issues.

Education

Niamh holds a degree in Law with French Law from the University of Oxford, and spent a year studying at Université Panthéon Assas (Paris II)
